Supplements

Omega-3 acids have been shown to increase cognitive function in Alzheimer's disease patients. Omega-3 acids increase cognitive function by eliminating oxidants in the brain, which in turn increase appetite. Since loss of appetite is a symptom of Alzheimer's disease, omega-3 acids allow patients to increase their intake of healthy food, and omega-3 acids also increase memory recognition.  These acids are commonly found in supplements like fish oil, and they are also in a majority of the foods listed in our meal plans. We recommend taking fish oil supplements daily along with maintaining a diet high in fruit and vegetable consumption. 1 capsule should be consumed with every meal, so 3-4 fish oil supplements should be taken every day. Fish oil supplement are sold in pharmacies and vitamin shops.
